Oct. 24, 2019 – First conference “Aerospace Business Insight #1” by TBS-ONERA: “Funny Drones”

“Funny drones: What are the challenges to achieving safe use of drones?”

TBS, as part of its Aerospace & Mobility Cluster, and ONERA, the French National Office for Aerospace Studies and Research, are launching a series of conferences entitled “Aerospace Business Insight” from October 2019 onwards.

Located in France & Europe’s leading aerospace region, the two institutions intend to combine their expertise to decipher the developments at work in this rapidly expanding sector.

These thematic conferences, open to the general public, will be hosted by ONERA researchers on the TBS campus. This initiative, organized around regular thematic meetings, has as its main objectives to popularize ONERA’s research work and demystify an aerospace sector that is sometimes subject to debate, prejudice and even criticism. It will also be able to attract future TBS graduates to an industry that is increasingly diversifying its recruitment.

Dr. Christophe Bénaroya opened the conference introducing Dr. Stéphanie Lavigne, General Manager of TBS. She highlighted the unique endeavor from the School for over 2 decades in developing training programs and cutting-edge research, now embedded around its aerospace & mobility cluster:

✈️ #Bachelor Aviation
✈️ #Master 2 Aerospace Management
✈️ #AerospaceMBA »

Mr. Dominique Le Quéau, Director of Outreach at ONERA then introduced ONERA. Interestingly two Students from the M2 Aerospace Management, led by Dr. Sophie d’Armagnac, respectively Mathias Fierro & Ugo De Checchi, shared their views regarding the drones and their related stakes & challenges. This was the perfect introduction to the knowledgeable and very interesting conference by Dr. Henry De Plinval, Director of ONERA’s UAV programme. A lot of questions raised up around the cybersecurity, the defense, and new business models, and so on.
