img_1287_50The first Airbus BizLab opened on 9th of March 2015 in Toulouse, France. The next centre opened in Hamburg (Germany) in September followed by Bangalore (India), creating an international network of Airbus BizLabs. Airbus BizLab is a global aerospace business accelerator where startups (external projects) and Airbus intrapreneurs (in-house projects) speed up the transformation of innovative ideas into valuable businesses. This “hybrid” concept has been designed by Airbus to closely collaborate with startups while allowing smaller organizations to better understand needs and ways of working of large groups.

Mr Madan Mohan Raj, CPO – EEP at IIMB, Prof. S. Raghunath and Dr. Christophe Bénaroya who are directors of the GMAE-Aerospace MBA program met Mr. Balachadran, Airbus Bizlab leader in Bangalore. 3 in-house projects and 4 startups have been selected during the first year. There is an exceptional interest coming from startups with dozens of projects (above 50 to date!) already submitted for the coming session. As stated by Mr. S. Balachadran: “this is now time for season #2!”, which effectively will start on the 9th of Jan., 2017. Indeed, BizLab Bangalore opens its doors to early-stage start-ups with the most innovative concepts that can be applied to the aeronautical sector. Project proposals can be submitted now until November 27th 2016 via a dedicated platform. The projects will include the development of a product, a service, an application related to augmented reality, as well as data analysis, internet of things and digitalization, which can be used in the aeronautical industry. Some of the main areas are: Robotics, IoT, Data Analytics, Image processing, Virtual and Augmented Reality, FinTech (Processes, Budgeting, Accounting, Reporting, Funding etc.), Supply chain, Door to door mobility (Passenger experience), Gaming, Aviation products and services, Drones, Manufacturing, Airport Management (Services and Products) and more! There will be a pitching session towards a jury committee for the startup selection on the 14th & 15th of December 2016 in Bangalore, India. Then the startups benefit from a unique environment to develop further and grow their projects, getting the support of bizcoachs and technical expertises inside Airbus during 6 months. The selected project candidates have access to a large number of Airbus coaches and experts in various domains (technology, legal, finance, marketing, etc.); free office space; a dedicated mentor; learn and act sessions; access to prototyping and test facilities, and a demo day with Airbus decision makers, partners, subsidiaries, customers, and venture capitalists. “The teams get the right contact with the right people at the right moment“. In addition, Airbus Bizlab is a sharing platform to generate disruptive ideas. New design, new equipment, new aesthetics will soon transform the Airbus Bizlab facilities in Bangalore. Teams will have the opportunity to collaborate and share with numa (@NUMA_blr) which are set up in the building in Bangalore.
