A look back at the USAIRE November Conference – David Ziegler, VP Aerospace&Defense Dassault Systèmes (by Mr.Praveen Babu & Mr. Vinay Kaushik)

On November 15th, 2019 we had the pleasure of having David Ziegler, the Vice President of Aerospace and Defense at Dassault Systèmes (THE 3D EXPERIENCE COMPANY) and an active participant, to speak during the USAIRE South West Chapter luncheon. David held key strategic positions with multiple organizations and successfully handled multi-billion projects. From 2004-2016, he joined Airbus as a sales contracts director and eventually held various key positions. In 2016, he joined the Aéroport de Paris as SVP Business Development and later joined Dassault Systèmes to become a key leader in defining the strategy for the company.

David started his presentation with an introduction on 3DExperience platform which provides software solutions for every organization from marketing to sales to engineering – that help you value creation process, to create differentiating consumer experiences. With a single, easy-to-use interface, it powers Industry Solution Experiences – based on 3D design, analysis, simulation, and intelligence software in a collaborative, interactive environment.

He wrapped up the presentation with a short video showing the application of 3D Experience platform mainly in simulating the Designing, Manufacturing, and Certification of a new Aircraft. It supports the OEM/Companies from the initial design phase to the Sale and maintenance of Aircraft. For Instance, it helps the Design team to review the design, track all the Engineering changes till the life of Aircraft, support the procurement in simulating the flow of parts from each supplier, helps production to calculate the OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency), and finally helps the Certification agencies (like FAA, EASA..etc) to approve the design of Aircraft. In the end, this platform also benefits the MRO Company by getting access to all the related documents to require for maintenance activities or check the Aircraft health.”

As an aerospace enthusiast and AEROSPACE MBA delegate, it was a great platform for us to network with the industry leaders and listen to their vision to build a better tomorrow. We got a chance to understand about company culture, technology, exchange ideas on the environment, future growth prospective in France which will certainly benefit us in our future endeavors. We also interacted with the TBS marketing students and supported them in preparing their USAIRE event report.

We elatedly shared our experience with our cohorts in school as this is one of the prime time for students (in TBS) who should never miss an opportunity to take a close look at the industry.
